Enter your building for the 5th Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems competition and join the jubilee!

Monday 6th May saw the launch of the fifth international Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems competition, making it a jubilee edition of this prestigious event for the architectural and construction industry. Once again, a professional jury of prominent Polish architects will come together to select the most interesting buildings created using ALUPROF systems. The deadline for entries is 30th June 2024 and the awards ceremony, which is planned for October, will be preceded by the latest conference in the Future Builders series. Keeping to a tradition established in previous editions, the organisers are also giving Internet users a say, with the designer of the building that receives the most votes being awarded the Internet Users’ Accolade.

Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems has already succeeded in winning international acclaim and industry recognition. Designed for architectural practices and independent architects in Poland and all over the world, the competition showcases its underlying concept, which is to shine a light on the most interesting buildings featuring systems by ALUPROF SA. This year, the focus is on designs constructed between 1st January 2022 and 30th June 2024. The closing date for entries to this fifth anniversary edition is 30th June 2024. The entry form provided at https://future-builders.com/en/contest/application-form should be used. It can also be sent by post to ALUPROF’s head office. The date of the postmark will be decisive.

The competition

The competition is structured in the same way as before and will consist of three stages. During the first stage, the organisers will select fifty entries to go forward to the second stage. They will be announced on the competition website, at https://future-builders.com/en/contest, within fifteen days of the closing date. The second stage sees the jury of five professional architects shortlisting ten finalists. The last stage involves the jury choosing the three winning designs. The Grand Prix is PLN 50,000, with the runner-up and third place receiving prizes of PLN 30,000 and PLN 15,000, respectively.

The Internet users’ vote

The organisers are also giving Internet users the chance to have their say. From 1st July to 16th August 2024, they will be able to vote online at https://future-builders.com/en/contest, selecting their candidate for the most interesting of the buildings entered for this year’s competition. The architect whose design receives the highest number of votes will receive the Internet Users’ Accolade.

Announcing the winners

Following the jury’s final deliberations, the results of the competition will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will be held on 16th October 2024 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Warsaw. The evening’s gala will be preceded by an international conference focused on crucial architectural issues and featuring discussions led by well-known architects from Poland and abroad.

The winners of previous competitions include the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Modern Languages and Institute of Applied Linguistics building, Hotel Nobu Warsaw, the Warsaw Brewery complex, Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå, Sweden, Green2Day in Wrocław and KTW in Katowice.

The announcement of the winning and highly commended buildings will be published in the trade press and other media.
