Aluprof's Curtain Wall Systems Certified by the Passive House Institute

The Passive House Institute in Darmstadt (PHI) has once again shown its appreciation for Aluprof products for their energy efficiency and excellent insulation performance. Mullion and transom curtain wall systems MB-TT50 and MB-SR50N HI + are ranked with the highest possible efficiency class A + for products intended for passive houses.

The MB-TT50 and MB-SR50N HI+ systems are designed for constructing large glazed walls in public buildings such as banks, office towers, administration buildings or sports halls. They can also be used for building curtain walls, ceilings and other spatial structures. They allow the creation of large glazing in buildings while ensuring excellent insulation, which has just been recognized by the PHI Institute in Darmstadt. Consequently, these products may be used in the construction of passive buildings. At the moment, only three curtain wall systems are certified A + by the Passive House Institute in Darmstadt, and this includes the two above-mentioned Aluprof systems.

We are very happy that the Passive House Institute in Darmstadt has once again appreciated our products by awarding them with the highest ranking A +. The MB-TT50 is our most technologically advanced system. This product brings a whole new approach to the design of profiles and accessories in terms of tightness, hence its thermal insulation from 0.5 W/m2K. Our second awarded product – MB-SR50N HI + is a version with enhanced thermal insulation, from 0.7 W/m2K. We strive to create solutions that will perfectly meet the needs of energy-efficient and passive constructions, and this certificate fully confirms that – says Bożena Ryszka, Head of Marketing and Communications at Aluprof.

The Passive House Institute in Darmstadt is an independent research institute that works on concepts, tools and building materials dedicated for the construction of energy-efficient buildings. It played a major role in the development of the passive house concept, creating in 1990 in Darmstadt, Europe's first multi-family house, whose demand for energy did not exceed 12 kWh /m2a).

These are not the first Aluprof products awarded by the PHI Darmstadt. Only this year, the Institute has granted certificates to the roller shutters fabricated using Aluprof’s systems SP & SP-E, for shutter boxes of a size of 165.
