Prestigious Aluprof projects in Great Britain

Non-typical design, minimalism and functionality are the main features of the newly erected public utility buildings in Great Britain – De Montfort University, Endike Primary School and the Costume Store. In these facilities of an unusual appearance and advanced construction, some innovative Aluprof systems were used.

The original shapes and large areas of all the three buildings required the development of individual solutions. To ensure their high thermal and acoustic insulation, Aluprof prepared special systems thanks to which the facilities not only perfectly fulfil their functions, but also look impressive.

The non-typical design of Endike Primary School is to facilitate creative teaching in different fields. The school is distinguished by original shapes and the vivid colours of its walls, and its pupils can use the café, impressive library and also a multi-use games area. The facility uses MB-60 and MB-59S Casement systems by Aluprof. The design of first one allows the exterior architectural elements with high thermal and acoustic insulation power to be made. The shape of the profiles ensures slender and at the same time durable window and door structures, while their flexibility allows the use of arch frameworks. The MB-59S system is used to make tilt-in and turn windows, which can be mounted both in wall holes and to the mullion and transom. The additional advantages of the profile are high adaptation abilities, very good thermal insulation and an efficient water drain and ventilation system.

The sports complex at De Montfort University is also an impressive investment by Aluprof. It houses, among other things: a 25-metre swimming pool, gym, eight tennis courts, a climbing wall, and a studio for yoga, aerobics and pilates. The MB-SR50 system, designed for the construction of lightweight curtain walls, was used in erection of this building. Its characteristic shape of mullions and transoms allows aesthetic façades with visible narrow parting lines to be made, while, at the same time, ensuring the durability and strength of the construction. Special lining profiles and appropriately shaped clamping and masking strips allow the spatial mass of the building to be shaped in a flexible manner, and also eliminates the need to use special angle posts.

Equally impressive is also the Costume Store – the modern and exclusive hostel for students of the London University of Arts. The facility consists of 654 tastefully arranged single bedrooms with a kitchen and common living room as well as 72 independent apartments. The occupants of this modernist building can relax in a luxury room and use the common laundry. In addition, there is a workshop for future designers and art gallery run by students of the London university at the Costume Store. Aluprof’s insulation systems allowed the building to be designed in low-energy system, while modern materials contributed to its original appearance.

The latest investments of Aluprof in Great Britain show that the use of glazed structures in the building industry created quite new aesthetic and static possibilities. The innovative buildings attract attention with their unusual shapes, and the technologies used in them enhance their functionality.
