The Museum of the History of Polish Jews

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews, erected on the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto, will be the first and only museum in the world focussing  on the history of Polish Jews. This unique museum may become another major cultural landmark of Poland’s capital city, providing it with a modern multimedia centre for education and culture. The building’s unusual design was prepared by the Finnish Lahdelma & Mahlamäki studio. Michał Borowski, Chief Architect of Warsaw, said in an interview with Rzeczpospolita newspaper: The project combines two opposites – the drama of history and a place that is alive. It is a crystal through which a stream has sculpted a passage to the Monument of Ghetto Heroes. The Aluprof S.A. company is the supplier of   aluminium systems for this building project, using mainly MB-59S and MB-70 systems. The external facade construction was based on the curtain wall system both of MB-SR50 standard and MB-SR50EI fire-proof version. Aluminium joinery is provided by Metalplast-Stolarka.

The Museum is a cultural institution jointly established by the local government (City of Warsaw), Polish Government (Ministry of Culture and National Heritage), an NGO (Jewish Historical Institute Association in Poland) as well as an international community of donors and friends. The completion of the Museum’s construction is planned for the spring of 2012.
