The MB-SR50N PV façade is an advanced architectural façade system developed to meet the rising performance expectations of modern building envelopes. By integrating photovoltaic (PV) panels directly into the curtain wall, it delivers a sustainable evolution of the proven MB-SR50N mullion-and-transom curtain wall. Its key environmental advantage is the ability to improve a building’s overall energy balance by generating renewable electricity on site.

The MB-SR50N PV system is designed for zero-energy façades and supports both transparent and opaque PV panels. With outstanding thermal insulation, it enables the construction of buildings with exceptionally high energy efficiency.

A distinctive feature of this façade system is the specially engineered profiles with internal chambers that house electrical wiring and connect the entire PV installation. The system also features a single-sided open transom, which allows easy inspection and diagnostics of the panels located in the inter-floor spandrel zones.
A dedicated installation gland ensures a sealed transition for electrical cables from the exterior to the interior of the façade. To maintain clean and organized cable routing, all wiring installed within the mullion and transom chambers is securely fixed using dedicated clips.

The MB-SR50N PV façade is fully compatible with the MB-SR50N system, allowing both solutions to be combined within a single project. This enables designers to achieve a consistent visual appearance from the inside and outside. In addition to reliable performance and the benefits of integrated photovoltaic technology, the façade’s configuration also allows for fast, non-invasive diagnostics without mechanical intervention from the exterior.
All these features make the MB-SR50N PV façade an ideal solution for projects aligned with sustainable development and energy-efficient architecture.

Benefits of the MB-SR50N PV façade

  • for architects: design flexibility for mullion-and-transom curtain wall layouts; identical appearance of façades with or without PV panels.
  • for fabricators: simple processing and installation of PV panels from various manufacturers.
  • for users and developers: on-site renewable energy generation for building systems; lower energy consumption and operating costs; reduced emissions and an improved energy balance; identical interior and exterior appearance to a traditional mullion-and-transom curtain wall.

System features and advantages

  • profile dimensions: mullions 105–145 mm, basic and half transoms 109.5–149.5 mm.
  • optional additional profile reinforcement.
  • optimized profile geometry designed to integrate electrical installations within the façade structure.
  • compatibility with photovoltaic modules from different manufacturers.
  • mullion and transom chambers adapted to standard PV connectors and closed with the same cover cap.
  • ability to inspect the installation through mullions or transoms from either the interior or exterior.
  • full integration with the MB-SR50N façade system: shared cover caps, load-bearing profiles, and system accessories; the PV façade can be combined with the standard mullion-and-transom version and glazed using the same methods.
  • high levels of airtightness and watertightness identical to the MB-SR50N system.
  • structural solutions that allow easy diagnosis and replacement of a damaged PV cell without disturbing the façade assembly.
