DO GÓRY
When designing the interiors and façades of houses, increasing attention is being paid to selecting appropriate windows. One of the more interesting solutions is non-opening aluminium windows, also known as fix windows. In this article, we will look at this solution. We will answer questions such as why non-opening aluminium windows are gaining in popularity, what their advantages are, where best to install them and why aluminium is considered the best material for window frames.

Why is aluminium the best material for windows?

Aluminium has been gaining recognition over the years as an excellent material for window frames. Its lightness, durability and weather resistance make it the ideal choice wherever functionality is important in addition to timeless design. Aluminium windows are also characterised by excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, which translates into energy savings and acoustic comfort inside buildings. Windows of different sizes can be made from aluminium to suit individual project needs.

Non-opening windows – what are their characteristics?

Non-opening windows, also known as fix windows, are becoming increasingly popular due to the fashion for large, panoramic glazing. They are distinctive in that they do not have wings that can be opened. The frames are permanently fitted into the window opening in a similar way to how glass façades are installed in modern office buildings.

There are two main types of non-opening windows: those that are glazed directly into the frame and those that are glazed into the sash. Directly framed windows are more popular because they provide a panoramic effect and greater airtightness, with the added advantage of a lower price compared to sash-glazed windows.

Non-opening windows are ideal for spaces that require more sunlight. They are a popular choice for upstairs bedrooms, among others, where the panoramic view at night becomes the perfect backdrop for relaxation. They are also ideal for installation in lofts, where other types of window could be difficult to use and their frames could significantly restrict the amount of light coming into the interior. As we mentioned earlier, non-opening windows are also often installed in public buildings, offices and commercial premises.

Advantages of fix windows

Fix windows are an interesting architectural solution that provides a number of advantages. Among the most important, we highlight:

  • airtightness and security – fix windows are extremely airtight due to the fixed glazing packet fitted directly into the frame. They also provide a high level of security – fewer moving parts make them more difficult for potential burglars to force through,
  • more light in the rooms – non-opening windows are characterised by a larger glazed area, allowing more natural light into the interior,
  • maintenance-free – non-opening windows do not require maintenance of hardware, seals or window profiles. Their design makes them easy to keep clean,
  • appealing price – due to the simplicity of construction and the lack of sashes and hardware, non-opening windows are usually cheaper than standard aluminium windows. They are therefore an appealing option for those who are looking for a cost-effective solution but do not want to give up the possibilities offered by the use of modern aluminium windows in the home.

When is it a good idea to choose non-opening windows?

Non-opening aluminium windows are the perfect solution for those who value elegance, functionality and security. They can be installed in many places, both in private homes and in public facilities.

If you want maximum access to natural light, greater security and an attractive price, non-opening aluminium windows are definitely worth considering. It is worth remembering, however, that in rooms where adequate ventilation and access to fresh air is essential, at least one classic window can always be used, allowing the interior to be ventilated if necessary.
