Large aluminium glazing – proven solutions for energy-efficient homes

chevron-up
DO GÓRY
Energy efficiency and concern for the well-being of the planet are among the key tenets of sustainable construction and the focus of an increasing number of architects and users. Which solutions in this area are especially valued by the construction industry and used in modern projects?

Aluminium joinery – a greener and more budget-friendly choice for your home

Aluminium windows and doors with large glazing perfectly meet the requirements of sustainable, responsible, but also home-budget-friendly design and construction. Thanks to advanced technology and high insulation parameters, they not only give homes a modern look, but also help to use buildings in a cost-efficient way. How is this possible? What is worth knowing about aluminium joinery? What products should you look for in the market?

Aluminium windows

To begin with, let's deal with a popular myth. Contrary to what you might think – large window glazing does not necessarily mean low thermal insulation. The devil is in the details, e.g. in the appropriate structure, multi-layer thermal insulation inserts, the thickness of the glass, or additional spacers that guarantee a high level of heat retention.

When choosing large window glazing, also pay attention to the heat transfer coefficient (Uw). The lower it is, the more energy-efficient the window is, because less warm air will escape outside, and this, in turn, will increase the effectiveness of heating. Conversely, in summer, when it is hot outside, it will help to keep the indoor temperature lower for a longer time.

Interestingly, the installation itself is significant in terms of energy efficiency, too. Glazing should be installed in layers by a professional, using special foams or insulation tapes. In this way, you can be certain that any air 'leaks' will be eliminated.

Aluminium terrace doors

Modern designs increasingly use sophisticated, sustainable building solutions. The MB-82 HS aluminium lift-and-slide terrace doors are an excellent example of how this type of joinery can contribute to the energy efficiency of a building, due to its excellent insulation parameters. Better protection of the interiors from excessive heat in the summer and reduced heat loss in the winter translates into:

  • improved user comfort,
  • lower bills,
  • reduced impact on the climate.

Sliding panoramic doors

Contemporary aluminium joinery fits perfectly in designs that aim to ensure as much light as possible and provide an almost unlimited view of the surroundings of the building. How do you obtain such a design – not only functional but also breathtaking? The answer is provided by the large-format, panoramic MB-Skyline Type R sliding doors – a solution that will especially meet the expectations of users who:

  • appreciate exceptional style and the highest quality,
  • want to have better control over their electricity consumption costs.

With their slender profiles and impressive glazing, the MB-Skyline Type R doors available in our range provide a sense of almost perfect unity with nature and remove visual barriers.

In addition, large glazing allows for maximum use of the light from outside and thus reduces the consumption of energy, which is beneficial for the home budget. Another advantage of this type of solution is the excellent thermal insulation of MB-Skyline Type R windows, which is incorporated at the design stage and contributes to reduced costs. Special thermal partitions, made of materials with low thermal conductivity, retain heat effectively inside the room. Furthermore, the use of high-quality seals minimises the formation of thermal bridges.

Play fair with nature!

Energy-efficient windows or terrace doors, such as those in the MB-82HS and MB-Skyline Type R systems, are perfectly aligned with the objectives of our 'Control the climate, control the costs' campaign. The ambassador of this campaign is Szymon Marciniak, an outstanding and internationally renowned football referee.

It is our advanced technology and the excellent parameters that make our products such a popular choice for sustainable building projects. Less energy is consumed to maintain the optimum internal temperature, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions and having a direct and undoubtedly positive effect on the environment. A reduction in carbon footprint thus mitigates the impacts of global warming and improves air quality.

As you can see, each of us can do our bit to make the effects of climate change less severe for future generations (but also for ourselves), without giving up comfort and modern conveniences. It is a matter of our daily – minor and major – choices.
