MB-SR100 and MB-SR80

Thermal insulation Uf

≤2,8 | W/(m2K)

The ground floor façade of the Jetty of Warsaw Airport is constructed in the form of the mullion-transom curtain wall in the MB-SR100 system, glazed with insulating sight sets of the thickness equal to 39 mm.

The construction, geometry and appearance:

  • The visible external mullion width: 100 mm for intermediate mullions, 50 mm for outermost mullion.
  • The visible external transom width: 100 mm for intermediate transoms, 50 mm for outermost transoms.

Most of the profiles were designed according to the requirements of building technology, physics and building statistics. The mullions are arranged in constant modules, every 1200 mm.

The mullion-transom façade is mounted to the external brick wall and the steel elements. The characteristic feature of this construction is that the clamping and cover beads are laid on the façade in the form of a horizontal line.

Basic requirements:

  • U ≤ 1.1 [W/ m2K] for combined glass sets
  • Uf ≤ 2.8 [W/ m2K] for aluminium profiles
  • Rwmin = 40 [dB]

MB-SR80

The building enclosure of the Terminal of Warsaw Airport is made from the MB-SR80 system. The façade structure includes the mullion-transom system. Size of the profiles is determined according to the requirements of building technology, physics and building statistics. As far as construction, the mullion-transom connections and drainage and ventilation are considered, the MB-SR80 system is based on the MB-SR50 curtain system that has been proven in many realisations.

The characteristic feature of this system is, most of all, the profile design. A special shape of cover beads in the form of eaves protruding for 100 mm is supposed to emphasise the horizontal lines on the façade. For transom profiles, of the width equal to 100 mm, the object mullion of the width of 80 mm was designed, which is assumed to give a proper support for glass panels of the inclined wall and to highlight visually the construction solidity. The vertical bead is shaped in such a way that the longitudinal groove was introduced along the profile. This results in visual presence of the hexagonal bolt heads as the intended architectural effect.

The construction inclination angle from the vertical is equal to 8° outside the front façade and 0° on the side facades. The mullions are arranged in constant modules, every 2400 mm. Compensation of the thermal expansion joint involves appropriately designed connection of the transom with the mullion, as well as mullion-mullion telescopic connection.

In the MB-SR80 building system in Warsaw Airport, two types of in-fills are used:

  • the insulating sight sets of the thickness equal to 39 mm,
  • the aluminium panels (in the upper and lower area).

Basic requirements:

  • Uf ≤ 1.1 [W/ m2K] for combined glass sets
  • Uf ≤ 2.8 [W/ m2K] for aluminium profiles
  • Uf ≤ 0.450 [W/ m2K] for aluminium panels
  • Rwmin = 40 [dB]
